Haliotis Iceland ltd. is Iceland´s only abalone producer. The production takes place at the company farm in the north of Iceland. In addition, Haliotis owns 49% of the Atlantic Abalone in Canada.
Main activities include:

• Seed production.
• Production of market size Red Abalone.

Haliotis has the facility to produce as much as 3 - 4 million abalone seed (5mm), and 10 tons of market size Red Abalone a year. Seed quality and on-growing system are constantly being improved.

Haliotis Iceland has its abalone farm in the small fishing village Hauganes in the north of Iceland. Conditions in Hauganes are excellent for growing abalone. The ocean is clean and there is plenty of geothermal water to heat the cold Icelandic ocean water to a temperature that is optimal for abalone.

A bit of history

Haliotis Iceland was founded in October 2000 by Ásgeir Eiríkur Guðnason.  Initially, the main emphasis was seed production for on-growing farms. Today Haliotis produces both abalone seed and Red Abalone in market size.
